I’m very pleased to share the news that Gwen received a Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies (COPSS) Emerging Leader Award, an early-career award for statistical scientists who are leaders of the field and help shape and strengthen it. Gwen was cited for her “pioneering leadership and research in the growing field of
astrostatistics; for initiating impactful collaborations between statisticians and astrophysicists that have led to novel advances in Bayesian inference and improved analysis of astronomical data; for developing statistical methods that have advanced understanding of fast radio bursts, globular clusters, and the structure of the Milky
Way; and for exceptional mentorship and the training of the next generation of researchers in this rapidly evolving field.”
