Astronomical Fourier Transform Spectroscopy is not very popular these
days, except for studying very specialized classes of astrophysical
phenomena (e.g. narrowband observations, emission-line sources) FTS
observations have not been very practical for acquiring broadband optical
observations of stellar spectra, mainly due to a low observing efficiency.
We report new developments in FTS methods, including a promising technique
which demonstrates large increases in the sensitivity of broadband FTS
instruments. In addition, a new generation of FTSs may be able to
significantly improve precise Doppler monitoring at levels more accurate
than the 3 m/s limit faced by the best absorption cell methods.
