Lester envisions a new approach to stellar radiometry

Astronomy professor John Lester is developing a new instrument to obtain precise stellar spectral energy distributions. Says Lester, "There have been great developments in spectroscopy and photometry, but spectroradiometry is still where it was more than 20 years ago." The new approach, which employs a Fourier-Transform spectrometer to avoid many of the conventional instrumental hurdles, is more fully described here.
