Figure Skating

Before my academic career, I was a competitive figure skater who trained in Victoria, BC, in Vancouver at the BC Centre of Excellence, at the Kitchener/Waterloo Figure Skating Club, and at the Mariposa Club. After my competitive career, I skated with a professional ice show and toured internationally for year. I still love to figure skate, and competed for both the McMaster and Queen's Varsity Figure Skating Teams during my graduate career. Now I compete in Skate Canada and ISU Adult figure skating competitions for retired competitive skaters and skater who took up the sport later in life. My academic career is very different from my figure skating one (although both require me to understand angular momentum!), but the latter has definitely informed my pursuit of the former. I keep a list of Life Lessons I've learned from Skating. As I continue through life I will continue to skate for fun because it keeps me balanced, healthy, and happy!

Eventually I may put more about my figure skating journeys (and some photos) on here...
