Anna O’Grady has been awarded the NASA Hubble Fellowship
12 May 2026Our recent Ph.D. graduate Anna O’Grady (2023) has been named a recipient of the 2026 Hubble Fellowship. In her Ph.D. with Prof. Maria Drout, O’Grady searched for Thorne-Żytkow objects, super-AGB stars, and stripped stars in nearby galaxies, as a way to probe the end states of stars, the origins of supernova explosions, and the consequences of binary interactions. Anna has since moved on to be the McWilliams Postdoctoral Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University.
Anna joins the ranks of UofT Astronomy graduate students to win NASA awards in the Hubble Fe program, including Bryce Croll (Sagan Fellowship, 2011), Kaitlin Kratter (Hubble Fellowship, 2012), Max Millar-Blanchaer (Hubble Fellowship, 2016), and Aaron Tohuvavohu (Hubble-Einstein Fellowship, 2025).
