Selecting Courses in your First-Year
Selecting Courses in your First-Year
Selecting the right courses in your first-year will be your first step toward success in our Astronomy and Astrophysics programs regardless of whether you plan to enrol as a Specialist, Major or Minor.
Within their first year, Astronomy and Astrophysics program students build up a requisite foundation in mathematics, physics, and computer science necessary for comprehending the nature of the universe as explored in our programs’ following years. (Note that program-required astronomy courses taught by our department faculty do not become accessible until the second-year of the program. However, AST121H1, not a program course, is recommended for astronomy program students in their first year).
Keep in mind that AST101H1 and AST201H1 are courses taken for breadth requirements or as general electives. These courses are not for science students and are not for students who plan to continue in Astronomy and Astrophysics programs.
