- Instruments Currently Under Development or Near Completion:
TMT NSCU The facility science calibration system for the adaptive optics and infrared instruments of the Thirty Meter Telescope (PI: Dae-Sik Moon; Expected first light whenever TMT is built.)
WIFIS (Wide Integral-Field Infrared Spectrograph): A visitor-class near-infared integral-field spectrograph with 6" x 12" field on a 10-m telescope (or 15" x 30" on a 4-m telescope) and R = 5000 spectral resolving power. The potential host telescopes include IRTF and 10.4-m Gran Telescopio Canarias (in collaboration with the University of Florida). (PI: Dae-Sik Moon; Expected first light in 2012.)
NIRES (Near-Infrared Echelle Spectrograph): A facility near-infrared spectrograph of the 10-m Keck I telescope. (PI: Keith Matthews at Caltech, Co-I: Dae-Sik Moon; Expected first light anytime soon.)
- Completed Instruments:
TRIPLESPECs are the facility near-infrared spectrographs for the 5-m Palomar telescope and 3.5-m Apache Point Observatory telescope. They share the same basic optical design, mechanical design, and electronics with the NIRES of the 10-m Keck I telescope (see above). I was the co-I of the TRIPLESPECsAutomation of the Palomar 1.5-m Telescope I was the hardware leader of the automation project of the Palomar 1.5-m telescope for observations of optical transients
EISSPM I developed an infrared photon-counting photometer based on the Edge-illuminated Solid-state Photomultiplier as part of my PhD thesis.
Multi-channel Data Acqusition System I developed next-generation high-speed multi-channel data acquisition system for infrared and optical photometry as part of my PhD thesis.
