A perspective view of a sectoral gravity mode consisting of a six-peaked wave moving about the equator of a 15 solar-mass star. The body of the star is flattened and the amplitude of the wave is enhanced in the equatorial regions by rapid rotation. Such waves are believed to be responsible for variations in the spectral line profiles of slowly pulsating B-stars.
