(2009). The last four variables in the above table were assigned the numbers V9-12 in the Samus et al. catalogue. The remaining data in the above table were taken from Clement et al. (1982). Clement et al. concluded that the Mira variables were not cluster members on the basis of the cluster's low metallicity and the frequency distribution of Mira variables in the surrounding field. A BV color-magnitude diagram by Piotto et al. (2002) indicates a pronounced blue HB. Clusters with Mira variables generally have red HBs. Thus it is unlikely that the Mira variables are cluster members. Discovery of the variable stars in NGC 6293: ========================================================================= Notes on individual stars V2, V7, F1,F2, HV3943, HV 4409: These stars are listed in the Moscow GCVS as V2137 Oph, V2145 Oph, NSV21001, V2136 Oph, V2102 Oph and IW Oph respectively. ========================================================================= Discovery of the variable stars in NGC 6293: V1-3 Shapley (1920) with x,y positions V4-5 and 3 field variables, F1-3 Sawyer (1943) with x,y positions for all of the known variables and an ID chart for V1-5. Clement et al. (1982) later published an ID chart for all of these variables except F3 which was outside their field of view. V6-8 Clement et al. (1982) with x,y positions and ID chart HV 3943 Woods (1926) with RA, Dec (1900) An ID chart was published by Swope (1932) and later by Clement et al. (1982). HV 4409 = IW Oph Swope (1928) with RA, Dec (1900) An ID chart was published by Swope (1932) and later by Clement et al. (1982). ----------------------------------------------------------------- Lee & Carney (2006) found 22 blue stragglers, most of which were centrally concentrated, from a photometric study based on HST VI data. The time distribution of their observations was not suitable for detecting variability. ================================================================== References Clement, C. M., Panchhi, P.
