(2003, A&A 398, 541). They investigated all of the variables numbered up to V45, with the exception of V14, 16, 20, 32 and 33 which were not in their field of view. The RA and Dec, magnitudes, amplitudes and variability types listed in the above table for variables they studied are from their paper. Also the periods for all CW, RR and SX variables numbered up to V45 and the SR variable V41 are from their paper. These authors also published an ID chart for the variable stars in their investigation. Ludendorff (1905, Potsdam Publ 15, Nr. 50) published a catalog of 1118 stars in M13. His catalog numbers have been cited by many authors. Cudworth & Monet (1979, AJ 84, 774) and Cudworth (1979, AJ 84, 1005) derived membership probabilities for stars in M13. Osborn (2000, AJ 119, 2902) and errata (2000, AJ 120, 2730) and (2002, AJ 124, 3492) has derived J2000 coordinates for many of the stars in Ludendorff's catalog. This includes V14, V20 and V33. =========== Notes on individual stars V11: Period for V11 is from Russev & Russeva (1979, IBVS 1624) V14: NV classification for V14 (Ludendorff 527) is from Sawyer (1955, DDO Pub. 2, 33). Other data for V24 are from Kopacki et al. (2003). V32: See note for V24. The RA and dec for V32 are from the 2MASS catalog (Osborn 2008, private communication). V33: Period and magnitude for V33 is from Welty AJ 90, 2555 (1985) The RA and Dec are from Osborn (2000, AJ 119, 2902) V46-49: The RA, Dec and variability type for V46-49, the period for V48 and the magnitudes and amplitudes for V48 and V49 are from Pietrukowicz & Kaluzny (2004, Acta Ast 54, 19) who listed these stars as M13_01 - 04. The periods, magnitudes and amplitudes for V46 and V47 are from Kopacki (2005, Acta Ast 55, 85). V46 pulsates in 2 modes. V50: The RA, Dec, period, magnitude and variability type for V50 is from Kopacki (2005, Acta Ast 55, 85). ============================================================================= Discovery of the variable stars in M13 (NGC 6205): A good discussion of the history of the investigations of variable stars in M13 was given by Kopacki et al. (2003, A&A 398, 541). Ludendorff (1905, Potsdam Publ 15, Nr. 50) listed 'delta RA' and 'delta Dec' for 1118 stars in M13. His catalog numbers have been cited by many of the authors whose discoveries are listed below. Ludendorff's xy positions have been converted to J2000 coordinates which are available through the Simbad database. V1-2 Bailey (1902, Harvard Annals 38) with ID chart V3-6 = Ludendorff 135, 322, 806 (north componentof a double) & 872 Shapley (1915, PASP 27, 134) who listed the catalog numbers of Ludendorff, (1905, Potsdam Publication 15, Nr. 50) The V7 Shapley (1915, PASP 27, 238) who listed the Ludendorff number V8-11 Sawyer (1940, DDO Publ. 1, No. 5) who published an ID chart, listed x,y positions and assigned the numbering system for V1-11 which are Ludendorff #816, 306, 135, 322, 806beta, 872, 344, 206, 806alpha, 487, 324, respectively. V12-14 = Ludendorff #187, 327, 527 Kollnig-Schattschneider (1942, AN 273, 145). The numbering V12-14 was assigned by Sawyer (1955) in her 2nd catalogue. DDO Publ. 2, No. 2. The RA and dec we list for V14 are from Osborn (2000, AJ 119, 2902) V15 = Ludendorff #835 Arp (private communication to Sawyer 1955 - 2nd catalogue; also noted in the listing for star IV-48 in Arp 1955, AJ 60, 317) V16 = #A18 of Savedoff (1956, AJ 61, 254), Tsoo Yu-hua (private communication to Sawyer Hogg (1973) as noted in her 3rd catalog; also noted in IAU Transactions XIIIA, Page 556, 1967.) Sawyer Hogg (1973) stated that this star is probably Ludendorff #1113, but Cudworth & Monet (1979, AJ 84, 774) say that Savedoff A18=Ludendorff #1079. In 1968, Sawyer Hogg provided Osborn with a photocopy of Tsoo's finding chart; Osborn's recent examination of it confirms the star marked is Savedoff A18 = Ludendorff 1079. The RA and dec listed in the table have been supplied by Osborn. V17 = Ludendorff #973 Fuenmayor & Osborn 1974, IBVS 952 V18-20 = Ludendorff #72, 194, 70 Russeva & Russev (1980, IBVS 1769) The RA and dec we list for V20 are from Osborn (2000, AJ 119, 2902) V21-31 = Stars X1-11 listed with x,y positions by Kadla et al. (1980, Astron Tsirk 1136, p.5) V32 = Ludendorff #66 Russeva et al (1982, IBVS 2223) V33 = Ludendorff #954 Welty (1985, AJ 90, 2555) The RA and dec we list are from Osborn (2000, AJ 119, 2902) V34-37 Kopacki et al (2003, A&A 398, 541) with ID chart, RA and dec V38 = Ludendorff #414 Russev (1973, Peremennye Zvezdy 19, 181) with the V38 number assigned by Kopacki et al (2003) V39-40 = Ludendorff #629, 940 Osborn (2000, AJ 119, 2902) with the V39-40 numbers assigned by Kopacki et al (2003) V41-45 Kopacki et al. (2003) with ID chart, RA and dec V46-49 = M13_01 to M13_04 announced by Pietrukowicz & Kaluzny (2004, AcA 54, 19) with RA and dec. The numbers V46-49 were assigned by Kopacki (2005, AcA 55, 85) V50 Kopacki (2005, AcA 55, 85) with ID chart, RA and dec Jogler et al. (2009, arXiv0907.0987) constrained the population of millisec pulsars in M13 based on observations with the MAGIC telescope. ==================================================================
