Dr. Linda M. French (Illinois Wesleyan University)
The Jovian Trojan asteroids, trapped at the stable Lagrange points of Jupiter's orbit, are among the most enigmatic objects in the Solar System. Terrestrial meteorite collections contain no material known to have originated in the Trojan regions, and many models for their origins have been presented. I will first review what can be learned from physical studies of small bodies, and then discuss ongoing work into the nature of the Trojans and what they may tell us about the early Solar System.
